The idea of Pet Camps occurred to me because of my pet male labrador, Jazz
He is so full of life and always up to something. As he was growing up I realized that his daily walk and exercise was no longer enough for him. He needed a place where he could run freely, be one with nature, and do all those things which dogs really enjoy.
That’s when I started searching for a place, a camp site or a farm which would allow pets and give them maximum outdoor exposure. It was hard to convince people to allow pet dogs on their property but I was not going to give up so easily. After looking at many places I found a perfect location for my first outdoor pet camp at the YMCA Camp Site in Nilshi near Lonavla in July 2005.
It’s surrounded by lush green hills, a river on three sides, lots of open space for our pets to run free and also provided a clean and decent accommodation for owners. I decided to have a weekend camp where people would join us on a Saturday morning with their pets and stay till Sunday evening.
Our aim is to provide such vast opportunities to pets and owners to spend quality time together through various indoor and outdoor activities.
We have had several successful camps so far at various places such as Lonavla, Talegaon, Palghar, Nagothane, Karjat etc in the vicinity of Mumbai.
